20) (Luke 4:1-13) “Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. The devil said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.’ Jesus answered, ‘It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’

The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, ‘I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.’ Jesus answered, ’It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’

The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. ‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down from here. For it is written: ‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’Jesus answered, ’It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’

When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.”

Even Jesus was tempted by the devil. In these verses, He is tempted 3 times, but stood firm. He used the Word of God against the devil, quoting the Truth and living by it.

We are always getting tempted. Every day we are pressure and tempted to do things God does not want is to do, and more times than not we give in. Is that what God wants us to do? No! We need to be giving in to God, giving ourselves TO Him. We need to stand firm and refuse to let the devil knock us down.

Later in Luke 5 it says, “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” EVEN JESUS PRAYED!!! If Jesus, who was so mighty, prayed to God, GAVE himself to God, why can’t we? Why are we sitting around saying we love God instead of showing this by our actions!?

So here’s the point: Be faithful and pray all the time. Don’t let the devil tempt you. If Jesus cried out to God, you shouldn’t be ashamed to.

Abraham did as God commanded, taking his only son to the mountain to sacrifice him as a burnt offering. Because he followed God’s request no matter the pain, God let him keep his son.

Do what God tells you to do. Do what He asks of you. God will bless you in ways you cannot even imagine. You only have to trust God with what He asks of you. You will see His miracles around you, see His beauty every place you stand, in every person you see.

19) Psalm 78 tells about how the men of Ephraim refused to live by God’s law. They sinned and forgot His deeds and the wonders He had shown them.

Psalm 78-38-39 says, “Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath. He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return.”

No matter what you do, the sins you commit and the trials you go through, our God is a merciful God. Every morning his mercies are new, every day it is as if you have never sinned. God is forgiving and will not destroy you… EVER. Time after time He lets your sins go like leaves in a breeze and never brings them up again. He never dwells on a sin you committed the day before. No matter what, our merciful Savior loves you with the strength of a thousand hearts.

17) I feel like a lot of people are going through major trials right now in your lives and your journey with Christ. If you can’t go to anyone to talk, talk to God. He is the shoulder that doesn’t have a curfew. He is the shoulder that doesn’t have a bedtime or a full schedule. God is for you 100% of the time and all you need to do is cry out. Our God is so faithful. He has eternal and loving faith in you. Will you have that kind of faith in God?

Choose God. Live in His presence. Take joy in His love.

In other words help your brothers and sisters, friends, family, etc., to know Christ in their hearts and to follow Him. You must help them until they are saved. This means talk to them, mentor them, write to them, take them out to coffee, call them… until they accept Christ. Do not leave them, do not stop, until they have taken possession of what God has given them, whether that be the gift of tongues, calling to be a pastor, youth leader, teacher, or something else. I know I always stress this, but DON’T give up!

God I thank you so much for the people I’m going to lift up to you right now.

God, I thank you for Crysti. That she is courageous enough to serve our country in the National Gaurd. You know what she’s going through, God. Give her your love so that she can forgive. Open her heart to receive direction and wisdom to know what to do. I pray that you give her everything she needs to get through the situation she’s going through and come over stronger than ever.

I want to lift up my youth pastor, Alex Dimare. He has so much on his plate right now, God. Satan has really been attacking his relationship and what he’s doing in the church. I pray that you give him wisdom, God, that you speak to him clearly and let him know the direction he needs to take United.

God thank you so much that Raigen feels so lovingly about her aunt. Her aunt is sick and has been hurting and I pray that you give her strength to push through this fight she’s enduring. God I pray that you take away her pain in every way possible. Give her peace in everything she does, just let her know You are there for her, God.

God, thank you for Karissa Allshouse. She is a wonderful woman of God- so encouraging and loving to everyone around her. God let her walk by faith and not by sight. Help her see through the eyes of Jesus, not through the eyes of her flesh. Give her peace about her future trip to Africa and trust that you will provide everything she needs, whether it be financial or family-wise. Please provide.

Ariel and Isaac are an amazing couple, God. You know what they’ve been through and what they’re going through and I pray that you give them strength in their relationship. Dig their roots deeper and help them with arguments, financial situations, emotional situations, etc. Give them everything they need to get ready for their future wedding, God. Help them with money. I pray that you show them what they need to do to become stronger in their relationship.

God I pray that you give Emily the right words to say in her situation. Speak through her God while she speaks to her friend. I pray for peace for his mind as well, God. I know how hard it is to try something new, such as going to church and putting all your trust in You. Just help his mind and her speech make a huge breakthrough. And I thank you that Emily has not given up and continues to try her hardest to bring another youth to You.

God I want to pray for my great friend Lizze. I pray that you bring us closer as friends and lovers of Christ. Show us through each other what we need to do in our similar situations. God… I know I’m not in any position to give anyone advice. So don’t let me. But I’m in the perfect position to pray. So help me. I need you more than ever right now, and I’m sorry I haven’t been who you want me to be. Maybe I hear from you daily, but I can’t tell. Speak clearly to me, God. Show me what you want me to do. No, don’t show… tell me. I’m broken and miserable. I’ve lost the only person I’ve ever truly loved. And I NEED your help God. Tell me clearly, with no interference, what to do. Don’t let anything cloud the Truth. I need clarity, I need freedom, I need wisdom, I need salvation… again.

I’m getting baptized this Sunday, Jesus. Help me prepare to live with you and allow you to live in me to the fullest. Push everything else but you out of my mind this Sunday, show me Truth, show me the reason and the way I should be living. I give my everything to you, Jesus, and I’m sorry I have been taking that for granted.

I thank you for the trials you put me through, because I learn something great and important from each and every one. Are you in need of something? I mean really need, not desire or simply want. Does your family desperately need money to pay rent or buy food? Need help moving or building something because you just physically cannot do it? Do you desperately need to be saved, to have freedom from depression or other trials that have come your way?

ASK GOD IN WORSHIP AND PRAYER. I cannot stress this enough. Ask with the correct motives and you shall receive. Knock and the door shall be opened.

Like the tiny computer chip that accesses the internet… like the steering wheel of a car that manuevers two tons of steel… like the small dusting of poison that can kill an individual… your tongue is little compared to the rest of your body, but oh-so-very powerful. It has the power to shake another person’s confidence, reputation or joy- to do more evil than you can imagine. Or it has the power to build others up, point then to Jesus and praise God. Will you use this power for good or for evil?
